The North Dakota Senate has voted against House Concurrent Resolution 3002, resulting in its rejection.

House Concurrent Resolution 3002, which aimed to include sports betting on the ballot in North Dakota’s upcoming elections, has been rejected by the North Dakota Senate. The bill, which sought to amend section 25 of article 11 of the state’s Constitution, was defeated by a vote of 30 to 16.

Sponsored by 12 representatives, including 11 Republicans and one Democrat, the bill had previously been approved by the House with a narrow vote of 49 in favor and 44 against after its introduction on January 3.

As of now, sports betting in North Dakota is only permitted at casinos and tribal lands. Previous efforts to legalize sports betting in the state were unsuccessful, with proposals failing to pass in both 2019 and 2021.
