Goa is set to release fresh regulations for casinos

The Indian state of Goa permits gambling, which is legal in only a few other states. The chief minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, has stated that new regulations for casinos will soon be implemented under the Goa, Daman, and Diu Public Gambling Act.

During his budget speech in the Assembly on March 29, Goa’s Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, revealed that the government would introduce new regulations for casinos, including offshore ones, under the Goa, Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act. The rules are expected to be notified soon.

The new regulations for casinos in Goa, announced by the Chief Minister, are intended to enhance transparency in regulation and empower the state’s gaming commissioner to issue tickets. Presently, there are six offshore casinos in operation in Goa, and several five-star hotels also operate land-based casinos.

Economic Times reports that the soon-to-be-notified regulations are expected to receive a warm welcome from casino operators as they are intended to crack down on illegal gambling activities and boost revenue. It is worth noting that gambling is legal only in a few Indian states, including Goa.
