As a former consultant to tribal governments and casinos, Nicole Scott will now take on the role of overseeing tribal nations relations at the International Center for Responsible Gambling.

Nicole Scott has been appointed as the new Director of Tribal Nations Relations and Communications at the International Center for Responsible Gambling (ICRG). In her role, Scott will be responsible for fostering and maintaining relationships with tribal communities and organizations, as well as overseeing all communication and outreach efforts.

With prior experience as a consultant to tribal governments and casinos, Scott brings a wealth of knowledge and commitment to responsible gambling practices to her new position. Art Paikowsky, President of ICRG, expressed excitement about Scott joining the team, citing her extensive experience in tribal relations and communications as a perfect fit for the organization’s mission.

Scott herself expressed enthusiasm about working with tribal communities and organizations to promote responsible gambling practices. Meanwhile, GeoComply, a geolocation data firm, has announced its plan to fund a research project for ICRG on the long-term effectiveness of voluntary self-exclusion. The two-year project aims to identify effective forms of self-exclusion and criteria for self-excluded individuals to return to gaming, as well as explore if the term “self-exclusion” itself carries stigma. The results of the research will be released in October 2025.

New Jersey has announced plans to appoint a responsible gaming coordinator

New Jersey’s attorney general, Matthew J. Platkin, and the director of the Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE), David Rebuck, have unveiled new initiatives aimed at promoting responsible gaming. As part of these efforts, a responsible gaming coordinator will be appointed, and operators will be held to new advertising standards. Additionally, players will have easier access to self-exclusion options.

Platkin made the announcement during a gathering of regulators and industry representatives at the East Coast Gaming Congress, which took place at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. These new measures will be incorporated into the DGE’s existing Responsible Gaming Initiative, which was introduced in February.
