Today marks the opening of the temporary sportsbook at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino
The casino will have 20 kiosks operational round the clock. The inaugural bet will be placed by Milwaukee’s mayor, Cavalier Johnson.
Potawatomi Hotel & Casino in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has opened its temporary sportsbook on March 31. The temporary locations consist of 20 24-hour kiosks located near the former Fire Pit Sports Bar & Grill and off the skywalk on the property’s second level. The property is still constructing a permanent venue in the northwest corner of the casino in the former Northern Lights Theater. The opening ceremony included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a first bet placed by Milwaukee mayor Cavalier Johnson. The sportsbook is now open to the public.
According to the casino, the new sportsbook will provide a secure and safe space for sports fans to place bets and watch games. Visitors can engage in in-play betting and place wagers on various sports, such as football, basketball, baseball, and hockey.
The second level of the property is undergoing a $100m renovation, set to be completed in phases over summer and fall of 2023.
Last year, the Forest County Potawatomi Community reached an agreement with the state of Wisconsin, permitting in-person sports betting at their two casinos. The compact, signed by Governor Tony Evers, is similar to those with the Oneida Nation and the St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin, which operate the state’s sole sportsbook until the launch of Potawatomi Hotel & Casino’s sportsbook today.
