Caesars Virginia to Open December 17 with Dennis Rodman and Festivities
Mark your calendars! The highly anticipated Caesars Virginia will officially open its doors on December 17, five days later than originally planned. Located in Danville’s Schoolfield neighborhood, this $750 million luxury resort and casino promises to redefine entertainment in the region.
The slight delay was announced by Caesars Entertainment, citing unspecified reasons. However, the excitement remains unchanged. Chris Albrecht, senior vice president and general manager of Caesars Virginia, expressed his gratitude for the community’s patience:
“The team has been working tirelessly to prepare Caesars Virginia for its grand debut, and we are thrilled to welcome guests on December 17.”
A Grand Celebration with Dennis Rodman
The grand opening will kick off with an electrifying car parade led by NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman. Starting at 10:15 a.m. at Main and Craghead streets, the parade will feature race cars and supercars supplied by Virginia International Raceway, Kaizen Autosport, and Foreign Cars Italia. The procession will make its way to the resort, where festivities continue.
Rodman will also place the ceremonial first bet at Caesars Sportsbook, marking the casino’s official opening at noon. As the day transitions into night, guests can enjoy a spectacular fireworks and drone display over Danville’s iconic Three Sisters smokestacks.
A Premier Gaming and Entertainment Destination
Spanning 587,000 square feet, Caesars Virginia offers a comprehensive entertainment experience. Highlights include:
- 90,000 square feet of gaming space featuring 1,500 slot machines, 79 live-action table games, 48 electronic table games, and a dedicated poker room.
- A luxurious 320-room hotel complete with a full-service spa and pool.
- Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen, bringing the celebrity chef’s iconic flavors to Danville.
- A 50,000-square-foot convention space, which doubles as a 2,500-seat entertainment venue for concerts and events.
The new resort replaces the temporary Danville Casino, which opened in May 2023 and has already contributed over $66 million in gaming taxes to the city and state.
A Joint Venture with Regional Impact
Caesars Virginia is a collaborative project between Caesars Entertainment, EBCI Holdings, and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Its development followed a 2020 referendum in which 69% of Danville voters approved casino gaming, demonstrating strong community support.
Located strategically near Raleigh (80 miles) and Durham (57 miles), the resort is expected to attract visitors from across the region.
Virginia’s Growing Casino Landscape
Caesars Virginia is the third permanent casino to open in the state, following the debut of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol in November 2023. With its unique offerings and prime location, Caesars Virginia is set to elevate the gaming and entertainment scene in the southeastern U.S.
The grand opening of Caesars Virginia is more than just an event—it’s a celebration of community, innovation, and entertainment. From Dennis Rodman’s iconic parade to state-of-the-art gaming facilities, this resort is poised to become a regional landmark.
Whether you’re drawn to the excitement of the casino floor, the luxury of the hotel, or the culinary delights of Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen, Caesars Virginia promises an unforgettable experience.
