Two individuals suspected of being bookies apprehended for illegal betting on IPL matches

Two individuals from Mumbai have been arrested by the rural police in Pune, Maharashtra, for their alleged involvement in illegal betting on IPL matches. The suspects, Rajivan Singh and Maskinsingh Rajendrasingh Arora, were apprehended after a raid on a bungalow in Tungarli village based on a tip-off.

During the raid, the police seized seven cell phones, a laptop, and other items worth Rs 1.5 lakh. According to Ankir Goyal, superintendent of the Pune rural police, the accused were using online applications like Khai Lagai on their laptop and the Diamond Exchange app on cell phones to accept bets.

The investigation is ongoing to determine if there are more individuals involved in the illegal betting ring, and the police are also looking into the online applications used by the accused.

It’s worth noting that betting on IPL matches is illegal in India, which is the most popular cricket tournament in the country, attracting a large number of viewers and bettors. Just this week, five individuals were arrested at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium for using the team-viewer app on Blackberry phones to communicate match details to a team that was taking bets, as per the police.
