Experience a workplace transformation as the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) pioneers a groundbreaking employee program. Launched during Multiculturalism Week, this initiative redefines holiday practices, allowing employees to substitute up to six statutory holidays with days significant to their personal, cultural, or religious beliefs. In a world where diversity and inclusion are paramount, BCLC takes a bold step forward to create an environment where every employee feels valued, seen, and truly belongs.
British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has ushered in a new era of workplace inclusivity with the introduction of an innovative employee program. This forward-thinking initiative was unveiled during Multiculturalism Week, embodying BCLC’s commitment to embracing diversity and fostering an inclusive work environment.
The centerpiece of this pioneering program is holiday flexibility. BCLC recognizes that one size does not fit all when it comes to celebrating holidays. In a move designed to honor the rich tapestry of its workforce, employees now have the liberty to substitute up to six statutory observed holidays on the BCLC calendar with days that hold personal, cultural, or religious significance to them.
This progressive approach reflects BCLC’s dedication to promoting diversity, inclusion, and belonging within its organization. The corporation’s proactive stance on creating an environment where every employee feels valued is underscored by its recognition as a “5-Star Diversity & Inclusion Employer” by the Human Resources Director Canada in 2022.
Sandy Austin, BCLC’s chief people officer, emphasized the importance of adapting holiday practices to the individual needs and beliefs of employees. She stated, “As an employer, we recognize that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach when it comes to holidays, and as our work with diversity, inclusion, and belonging moves forward, so must our approach to our practices.”
Madhavee Inamdar, manager of diversity, inclusion, and belonging, celebrated the organization’s diverse workforce and reaffirmed their commitment to nurturing an inclusive culture. In her words, “We are incredibly fortunate to have such a diverse workforce and are honoring that diversity and reaffirming our commitment to fostering an inclusive culture at BCLC where all employees feel that they are seen, valued, and belong.”
BCLC’s groundbreaking employee program sets a new standard for embracing diversity and promoting an inclusive work environment, making it a beacon of progressive workplace practices.
