Prepare for a grand celebration as the Mohegan Tribe charts a remarkable journey towards the launch of its crown jewel, the Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort in South Korea. In a momentous announcement, the tribe revealed that the resort is set for a soft opening on November 30, a date that promises to usher in a new era of entertainment, leisure, and inspiration.
This soft launch, scheduled for next week, holds the key to unlocking a world of possibilities within the sprawling Mohegan Inspire complex. It allows eager visitors a unique opportunity to experience select facilities ahead of the resort’s full-fledged opening. But this is just the beginning. The journey towards completeness will unfold in phases, culminating in the resort’s full operational status during the first half of 2024.
The initial phase of this grand endeavor boasts an impressive array of attractions. Visitors will have access to three towers, boasting world-class hospitality, over 10 tantalizing restaurants, and a multi-purpose arena—the very first of its kind to grace Korean soil. For those seeking digital delights, the ‘Aurora’ digital entertainment street beckons, while the ‘Splash Bay’ presents a captivating glass-domed indoor water park, promising aquatic adventures like never before.
As the calendar flips into 2024, the resort will continue to unfurl its offerings. The ‘Inspire Mall’ is poised to make its debut in the first quarter, inviting guests into a world of shopping, dining, and entertainment. Simultaneously, a foreigner-exclusive casino will open its doors, ensuring an exceptional gaming experience for international visitors.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. The second quarter of 2024 brings with it a bevy of amenities that promise to elevate Mohegan Inspire to unprecedented heights. The outdoor entertainment facility, ‘Discovery Park,’ will come alive with captivating performances and events. A vibrant food court will tantalize taste buds, while an exhibition center will serve as a hub for cultural exchange and innovation.
James Gessner, Chairman of the Mohegan Tribe and Mohegan Management Board, expressed his enthusiasm, deeming the soft launch a “momentous” occasion. He highlighted the honor of collaborating with the Korean government to bring this vision to life and emphasized the resort’s role in boosting the local and regional economies, creating jobs, and drawing visitors to the enchanting Incheon region.
Chen Si, appointed as President of Mohegan Inspire in September, echoed Gessner’s sentiments. He termed the soft launch a “major” milestone in the resort’s journey, underscoring the importance of community support and collaboration in achieving this remarkable achievement. Si, with prior experience at Las Vegas Sands, shoulders the responsibility of overseeing budget and business plans for the $5.0 million integrated resort project.
Notably, the Mohegan Tribe secured a license from the South Korean government in February 2016, paving the way for the creation of this monumental integrated resort. Nestled near Incheon International Airport, it aspires to become the largest integrated resort in Northeast Asia, offering a diverse range of entertainment, hospitality, and leisure experiences.
Ray Pineault, President and CEO of Mohegan, previously emphasized the resort’s commitment to generating a substantial portion of its revenue from non-gaming business. Korean law stipulates that only non-citizens are permitted to engage in casino gambling, making it imperative for the resort to thrive beyond the gaming realm.
In this endeavor, Wade Howk assumed the pivotal role of Chief Operating Officer at the integrated resort, leveraging his extensive experience, having served as Chief Financial Officer and Interim President at Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati.
As the excitement mounts and the grand opening draws near, the Mohegan Tribe remains steadfast in its commitment to creating an entertainment destination that transcends boundaries, drawing visitors from across the globe, brimming with inspiration and innovation. It’s a momentous journey set to reshape the South Korean hospitality and entertainment landscape, and the world eagerly awaits the grand reveal on November 30.
