Ontario-based gaming operator NorthStar Gaming has confirmed a significant change in its executive team with the announcement that Jennifer Barber will be stepping down from her role as chief financial officer (CFO).
Barber is set to leave NorthStar on December 1 to embrace a new opportunity, concluding her influential tenure where she significantly contributed to the company’s milestones, including the public listing process and the Slapshot Media acquisition.
Chin Dhushenthen, the current vice-president of finance and compliance, is poised to fill the interim CFO role, bringing a robust track record since joining the business in September 2021. Dhushenthen’s background includes substantial experience in various financial roles across esteemed companies like Capreit and Hydrogenics, to name a few.
Michael Moskowitz, NorthStar chair and CEO, extended gratitude towards Barber for her pivotal role during a crucial phase of the company’s evolution, particularly noting her contributions to NorthStar’s financial reporting functions.
In the context of NorthStar’s broader ambitions, the announcement comes on the heels of the company’s initiative to enhance its online gaming offerings in Canada. Post-launch in May 2022, NorthStar has been diligently working to extend its online casino and sportsbook services beyond Ontario. With the rollout of NorthStarBets.com, made feasible by the acquisition of Slapshot Media, NorthStar is set to become accessible in all provinces and territories, aligning with Moskowitz’s vision for expansion articulated during the Q2 results discussion.
