SCGO Limited Secures Online Gambling License in the Netherlands from Kansspelautoriteit KSA

KSA Issued 24th Online Gambling Licence, Granting License to Malta-Based Operator for Dutch Online Gaming.

SCGO Limited, a prominent online gambling operator, has recently announced the acquisition of an online gambling license in the Netherlands from the national regulatory authority, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA). Although the specific brand under which it will launch has not been disclosed yet, SCGO is widely recognized for its well-established Vbet platform, which holds a license in Malta.

This significant development makes SCGO the 24th online gambling operator to receive a license in the Netherlands since the country initiated its regulated online gambling market in October 2021.

As Dutch igaming regulation undergoes changes, the KSA is facing a surge of inquiries regarding the impending ban on untargeted gambling advertisements, set to take effect on July 1. However, the regulator has stated that it can only provide limited guidance until it has observed the practical implementation of the ban.

Additionally, the KSA has recommended legislative amendments to enhance its ability to ensure operator compliance with regulations. It seeks permission to create fictitious identities, enabling comprehensive monitoring of operators’ adherence to the established requirements.

Currently, only the Netherlands’ National Office for Identity Data is authorized to generate false IDs for surveillance purposes. The KSA argues that it should be granted the same authority to efficiently and effectively monitor online gambling activities.
