Macau GGR Falls 10% in October to MOP21.68 Billion, Fifth Straight Decline
Macau gross gaming revenue fell 10.0% year on year to MOP21.68 billion in October 2026, a fifth straight annual drop, though up 20.0% on September.

Macau casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) reached MOP21.68 billion (about US$2.7 billion) in October 2026, down 10.0% from a year earlier, according to data the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) released on 1 November 2026.
The result extends the territory's run of annual declines to five consecutive months, yet October was 20.0% stronger than September. GGR is the amount players wager minus the winnings paid out, before costs and taxes. All amounts are in Macau patacas (MOP) unless stated.
October 2026 at a glance
The year-on-year fall is the headline, but the month-on-month and cumulative figures show a market that is still growing across the year as a whole. The table summarizes the main numbers reported by GGRAsia, Asgam and ASEAN Gaming from DICJ data.
| Metric | Figure |
|---|---|
| October 2026 GGR | MOP21.68 billion |
| Change versus October 2025 | -10.0% |
| Change versus September 2026 (MOP18.06 billion) | +20.0% |
| January-October 2026 GGR | MOP208.80 billion (+1.6% year on year) |
| October as share of 2019 level | 82% |
| Ten-month total as share of 2019 | 84.6% |
| Government full-year GGR target | MOP236 billion |
The 2019 comparisons and the five-month decline count come from ASEAN Gaming. Asgam rounds the ten-month total to MOP208.79 billion, a minor difference from GGRAsia's MOP208.80 billion.
A weak October despite a holiday peak
The fall came in a month that included the mainland Chinese Golden Week holiday, normally one of Macau's strongest tourism periods, GGRAsia noted. Asgam added that the NBA China Games at The Venetian Macao in early October supported the month's revenue.
Expectations were already lowered. According to ASEAN Gaming, Citigroup trimmed its October estimate late in the month to MOP21.5 billion, implying a fall of about 11%, after post-Golden Week revenue came in weaker than it had anticipated. The actual figure came in slightly above that forecast.
The softness is not new. Asgam reported that third-quarter GGR fell 3.7% year on year to MOP60.4 billion, mainly because of weaker premium mass revenue. GGRAsia puts June's decline at 12.1%, the sharpest cited in this run.
What the year-end target requires
The government's full-year GGR target is MOP236 billion. GGRAsia reports that CreditSights estimated Macau needs average monthly GGR of MOP16.3 billion over the fourth quarter to reach it, and that the target could still be met. Because that average includes October, a month that came in well above it, the figure gives operators some room for slower months before the year closes.
The cumulative January-October gain of 1.6% shows why the target stays in view even as individual months decline. Against 2019, however, the market is still around 15% smaller on a cumulative basis.
Context for operators and suppliers
Macau's regulatory framework has shifted the market's structure in recent years, including legislation on casino credit and junket agreements and enforcement against illegal money exchange in casinos. Operators have also pursued other ways to grow, such as exclusive gaming rooms for foreign visitors.

The next DICJ release, covering November, will show whether the month-on-month rebound holds and whether the fall in annual comparisons extends to a sixth month. It will also show how much of the MOP236 billion target remains to be earned in December.

Frequently asked questions
How much did Macau casinos earn in October 2026?
Macau casinos reported gross gaming revenue of MOP21.68 billion, about US$2.7 billion, in October 2026. The figure comes from data released by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) on 1 November 2026. It is 10.0% lower than October 2025 and 20.0% higher than September 2026.
Is Macau GGR still falling year on year?
Yes. October was the fifth consecutive month of year-on-year decline, according to ASEAN Gaming. June's fall was 12.1%, per GGRAsia. Despite the run, cumulative January-October GGR of MOP208.80 billion is still 1.6% higher than in the same period of 2025.
Will Macau reach its MOP236 billion GGR target for 2026?
It remains possible. GGRAsia reports that CreditSights estimated Macau needs average monthly GGR of MOP16.3 billion across the fourth quarter to hit the MOP236 billion government target, and that it could still get there. October's MOP21.68 billion is well above that average.
How does Macau GGR compare with 2019?
According to ASEAN Gaming, October 2026 GGR was 82% of the October 2019 level. The ten-month total for January-October 2026 was 84.6% of the same period in 2019. Macau's gaming revenue therefore remains well short of pre-pandemic levels.
What is GGR in casino reporting?
GGR stands for gross gaming revenue: the amount wagered minus the winnings paid out to players, before operating costs and taxes. Macau's DICJ publishes the figure monthly in patacas (MOP) for the territory's licensed casino operators combined, and it is the standard benchmark for the market's performance.
