British Columbia Lottery Hits New High with Record Net Income

The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) announced a groundbreaking net income of $1.636bn for the past fiscal year, surpassing its previous high from 2018/19 by a substantial $220m. This achievement saw the Province receiving $1.624bn, while the federal government was allocated $12m.

This record-breaking performance, as detailed in BCLC’s 2022/23 Annual Service Plan Report, can be attributed to several strategic moves. Notable among these were the inauguration of the state-of-the-art Cascades Casino Delta, enhancements to the Lotto 6/49 game, consistent high jackpot rolls from Lotto Max, and the successful expansion of PlayNow.com into its third Canadian province.

Further elevating its offerings, BCLC introduced “Ticket to Ride” – marking the lottery industry’s pioneering instant ticket based on the popular Days of Wonder’s game of the same name. Additionally, the corporation has taken significant steps to fortify its commitment to responsible gaming. One such measure ensures that all gaming locations in British Columbia mandatorily request identification upon entry. This is a deliberate effort to deter self-excluded individuals from accessing casino facilities.

It’s also worth noting that Moore will be stepping down from his position, with his resignation effective from January 15.
