Aristocrat Takes Monopoly Big Board Bucks, G2E's Slot of the Year, to Class 2 Tribal Casinos
Aristocrat Gaming is bringing Monopoly Big Board Bucks, named Slot of the Year at the Global Gaming Awards Americas, to Class 2 tribal casino markets in the US.

Aristocrat Gaming announced in Las Vegas on 28 October 2026 that Monopoly Big Board Bucks, the Hasbro-licensed video slot named Slot of the Year at this month's Global Gaming Awards Americas, is being released in Class 2 tribal gaming markets across the United States. The move takes a game that so far ran only as a conventional Class 3 slot onto the bingo-based machines used by tribal casinos that operate without, or alongside, a state gaming compact.
In the company's announcement, Kurt Gissane, who leads Aristocrat Gaming's commercial team in the Americas, described the Slot of the Year win as "an incredible honor." The release did not include a launch date or name the first tribes or properties to take the game.
What Aristocrat announced
The Class 2 version keeps the same theme, cabinet and bonus structure as the original. Here is how the title has moved from reveal to tribal floors:
| Date | Milestone |
|---|---|
| July 2025 | Aristocrat wins Hasbro's land-based slot license for Monopoly |
| 7 October 2025 | Big Board Bucks unveiled at the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas |
| April 2026 | First US installation at Yaamava' Resort & Casino, Southern California |
| Early October 2026 | Named Slot of the Year at the Global Gaming Awards Americas during G2E |
| 28 October 2026 | Class 2 release across US markets announced |
At the awards, Aristocrat also took Class 2 Land-Based Supplier of the Year for a second straight year and Class 3 Land-Based Supplier of the Year for an eighth, according to G3 Newswire, which runs the awards. The company is one of the largest suppliers of both machine types to tribal casinos.
How the game plays
Big Board Bucks puts players on the Monopoly board with Mr. Monopoly, selectable tokens and the familiar houses and hotels. Three "metamorphic" triggers, Extra Spins, Extra Properties and Extra Houses, can land alone, in pairs or all together, and any of them starts the Big Board Bucks Bonus. In that round players move around the board to collect money bags, properties, houses, hotels, Free Parking prizes and a spin of the GO Jackpot Wheel. The 2025 launch materials describe a fourth feature, Free Games, that triggers when an on-screen meter fills.
The game runs on Aristocrat's Baron Portrait cabinet, with what the company calls first-of-its-kind configuration and signage options. Hasbro's licensing deal with Aristocrat covers land-based slots; online live casino and slot rights to the brand sit with Evolution under a separate exclusive deal with Hasbro for live casino games.
What Class 2 gaming means
Class 2 is a legal category set by the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), the 1988 federal law that governs gaming on tribal lands and created the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC), the federal regulator for tribal gaming.
| Class | What it covers under IGRA | Who regulates |
|---|---|---|
| Class 1 | Social games for minimal prizes and traditional tribal games | Tribes alone |
| Class 2 | Bingo, with or without electronic aids; pull-tabs, lotto and some non-banked card games | Tribes, with NIGC oversight of ordinances and audits |
| Class 3 | Everything else, including slot machines, banked table games and sports betting | Tribes under a tribal-state compact |
The law excludes slot machines and "electronic or electromechanical facsimiles" of games of chance from Class 2. A Class 2 machine can therefore show spinning reels and bonus rounds, but each result is decided by an electronic bingo game played among linked machines. Class 3 gaming is lawful only under an approved tribal ordinance, in a state that permits such gaming, and in line with a tribal-state compact.
That is why suppliers rebuild hit titles for Class 2. Tribes in states without a compact, and tribes that use Class 2 machines to expand floors beyond compact limits, depend on these versions. Tribal operators are protective of that market and have pushed back against rivals such as sweepstakes casinos that tribal gaming groups oppose.
Why it matters for Aristocrat
Branded titles are expensive to license, and moving a proven game onto a second machine category spreads that cost over more units. Aristocrat has paired its land-based business with a push into digital content and real-money online play, including its NeoGames acquisition and its later deal to acquire Awager. Strong slot-floor performance remains the core of its US business, and awards like those at the Global Gaming Awards Americas are used heavily in sales to casino buyers.
Status reviewed on 29 October 2026. Game details are from Aristocrat Gaming's announcements; the Class 2 rollout date and first properties have not been disclosed. More slots news and North America coverage.
Frequently asked questions
What is Monopoly Big Board Bucks?
Monopoly Big Board Bucks is a video slot from Aristocrat Gaming built on Hasbro's Monopoly board game. It runs on the Baron Portrait cabinet and uses three triggers, Extra Spins, Extra Properties and Extra Houses, that lead to a bonus round around the board with money bags, properties, houses, hotels, Free Parking and a GO Jackpot Wheel. It was the first title under Aristocrat's Hasbro license.
What is Class 2 gaming?
Class 2 gaming is a category created by the federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988. It covers bingo, including bingo played with electronic aids, plus pull-tabs and some non-banked card games. Class 2 slot-style machines show reels, but the result is decided by an electronic bingo game. Tribes regulate it, with oversight from the National Indian Gaming Commission, and no state compact is needed.
Why do slot makers build separate Class 2 versions of games?
Federal law treats slot machines as Class 3 gaming, which a tribe can offer only under a compact with its state. Tribes without such a compact, or with limits on machine numbers, can still run Class 2 machines. Suppliers therefore rebuild popular titles on a bingo engine so the same theme and features can appear on those casino floors.
When will Monopoly Big Board Bucks reach Class 2 casinos?
Aristocrat announced the Class 2 expansion on 28 October 2026 but did not give a launch date or list specific tribes, properties or states. The Class 3 version has been live since April 2026, when Yaamava' Resort & Casino in Southern California became the first US casino to install it.
