Peter DeRaedt Steps Down: A New Era for IGSA Begins

The gaming world is witnessing the end of an era with the departure of Peter DeRaedt from the International Gaming Standards Association (IGSA).

DeRaedt’s 25-year journey at the helm of IGSA has been marked by groundbreaking advancements and unification within the gaming industry.

Imagine a gaming industry guided by a vision of cohesion and innovation, a legacy that DeRaedt has crafted over decades.

Let’s delve into the monumental impact of DeRaedt’s tenure and the dawn of a new chapter for IGSA under the guidance of Mark Pace.

The International Gaming Standards Association (IGSA) has recently announced a significant shift in its leadership landscape. The long-serving President, Peter DeRaedt, will conclude his remarkable 25-year tenure with the organization, effective December 31, 2023. DeRaedt’s departure not only marks the end of an epoch but also highlights a career dedicated to unifying and innovating the gaming business.

IGSA’s Board has extended its profound gratitude to DeRaedt for his unwavering dedication and exceptional service. Since the inception of the association in 1998, Peter W. DeRaedt has been a staunch advocate for global gaming standards. Initially serving as the inaugural Chairman of the Board of Directors from May 1998 to October 2002, he later transitioned to the role of President, demonstrating visionary leadership throughout his tenure.

In recognition of his invaluable contributions, the Board has bestowed upon him the honorary title of “President Emeritus” for life, a testament to his indelible impact on the industry. In a gesture of continuing influence, DeRaedt has graciously agreed to offer advisory support to IGSA for the next two years.

Under DeRaedt’s astute leadership, IGSA has flourished into a neutral, authoritative advocate in the gaming industry. Numerous globally adopted standards have been developed during his presidency, significantly transforming the landscape of many gaming companies.

In line with IGSA’s commitment to seamless transition and continuity, Mark Pace, the current Vice President of IGSA, will assume the role of acting President. Bringing over 20 years of experience within IGSA, Pace’s repertoire includes roles such as Committee Chair, Treasurer, Vice Chairman of the Board, and Founder and Managing Director of GSA Europe.

Earle G. Hall, Chairman of IGSA, reflected on DeRaedt’s legacy, stating, “Peter DeRaedt’s legacy is profound, having navigated IGSA through myriad challenges and opportunities. His forward-thinking and leadership have been instrumental in sculpting an industry that is dynamic and continuously evolving. He leaves behind a robust and well-respected organization, primed for sustained success and innovation.”

The Board is committed to a thorough vetting process for the appointment of the new President. This decision will be formally announced at the first Board meeting of 2024, reflecting IGSA’s dedication to transparency and careful consideration in leadership transitions.
