Spelinspektionen and Finansinspektionen requested to collaborate closely
Sweden’s government has urged the Spelinspektionen, the country’s gambling regulator, to collaborate with the Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen) to effectively combat illegal gambling.
This move follows recent changes made to the Spelinspektionen’s powers.
The government believes that closer coordination between the two regulators will help regulate financial transactions associated with gambling, allowing them to better monitor the industry and block payments to unlicensed operators as required.
Camilla Rosenberg, the director general of the Spelinspektionen, sees the proposal as very positive, stating that partnering with the Financial Supervisory Authority will provide more opportunities to use the available tools.
The strengthened cooperation between the two regulators will allow for more efficient and result-oriented use of all available tools, which is seen as a positive step forward.
The Spelinspektionen has confirmed that more changes will be introduced within the next six months.
