Paf demonstrates commitment to responsible gaming through substantial investment
Paf, the Nordic gaming company, takes further steps to promote responsible gaming by reducing the mandatory loss limit and introducing a new limit for young adults aged 18-19.
These measures are estimated to incur an annual cost of approximately 7 million euros.
Paf is implementing a reduction in the annual mandatory loss limit from 20,000 euros to 17,500 euros, ensuring that no customer can incur losses beyond this maximum limit across all game categories and Paf-owned gaming sites.
“Paf is making its biggest investment in responsible gaming ever. We are adjusting a number of different limits and the overall impact of our measures will make a noticeable difference in our numbers and customer segments,” says Christer Fahlstedt, CEO.
Investment of 7 million Euro
The new annual loss limit of 17,500 euros (190,000 SEK) will be implemented in early summer, along with other proactive measures, with an estimated cost of approximately 7 million euros.
“We recognise the opportunity to further enhance our commitment to responsible gaming, as it aligns with our goal of becoming a sustainable entertainment company. It’s the right thing to do,” says Christer Fahlstedt.
Loss limit lowered by 82% for young people
Paf will be implementing a significant reduction in the loss limit for its youngest customers, lowering it from the current 10,000 euros to 1,800 euros per year, marking an 82% reduction. This change applies to all customers aged 18-19.
“The reduction in the loss limit for young adults aligns with our continued focus on responsible gaming and is supported by research indicating that this age group is particularly vulnerable to gambling problems,” says Daniela Johansson, Deputy CEO & Chief Responsibility Officer.
In 2022, Paf introduced a lowered loss limit of 10,000 euros for young people aged 18-24. This responsible gaming measure is now being complemented by an additional reduction in the loss limit for all individuals aged 18-19.
Paf’s mandatory loss limits 2023
- 18–19 years 1,800 euros / 20,000 SEK
- 20–24 years 10,000 euros / 100,000 SEK
- ≥25 years 17,500 euros / 190,000 SEK
Paf has been transparent in publishing customers’ winnings and losses, as well as tracking the development of various customer segments since 2017. In recent years, Paf has successfully reduced the number of customers engaging in high-stakes play, while increasing the number of customers playing with smaller sums.
“We are committed to continuing our responsible gaming measures to improve customer segments. Our aim is to set a benchmark for gaming companies in terms of responsibility, one that can and should be followed by other international gaming companies,” says Christer Fahlstedt.
