Kentucky Unveils Approved Sports Betting Catalogue Ahead of Retail Launch
Governor Andy Beshear of Kentucky has heralded the release of a comprehensive sports betting catalogue by the state’s Sports Wagering Advisory Council (SWAC). This list denotes the array of sports on which bets can be placed in Kentucky, aligning with the launch of regulated retail sports betting on September 7.
Kentucky Horse Racing Commission‘s (KHRC) executive director, Jamie Eads, has given the nod to the catalogue. For a sporting event to be eligible for the list, it must hold endorsements from its respective governing body. Moreover, betting operators can propose additional events for subsequent inclusion. Furthermore, sports authorities can put forth requests to either restrict or wholly exclude specific events from wagering.
The initial catalogue encompasses major sports leagues and events including the National Football League (NFL), Major League Basketball (MLB), National Basketball Association, Women’s National Basketball Association, and NCAA events such as baseball, softball, basketball, football, and hockey.
Hans Stokke, the KHRC’s sports betting director, commented on the catalogue, stating that it will “shape a distinct market for enthusiasts keen on placing lawful bets within the jurisdiction of Kentucky.”
Betting establishments in Kentucky will be permitted to accept a range of wagers. This includes single-game bets, teasers, parlays, over-under, money line wagers, pools, real-time in-game and in-play betting, proposition wagers, and straightforward bets.
