Carl Brincat Announces Departure as CEO of Malta Gaming Authority
The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) confirmed the upcoming exit of its CEO, Carl Brincat, who will conclude his term on 25th January. Serving the regulatory body since January 2021, Brincat has chosen not to renew his current contract.
In anticipation of Brincat’s departure, MGA will initiate a public application process to pinpoint his successor. The chosen individual will work alongside Brincat for several weeks, ensuring a seamless transition.
Ryan Pace, MGA’s Chairperson, praised Brincat’s considerable contributions, stating, “Carl’s legacy at MGA and the wider Maltese gaming sector is undeniable. We’re profoundly grateful for the robust groundwork he’s laid, bolstering our pursuit of the MGA’s overarching objectives.”
Brincat’s journey with the MGA began even before his CEO role. He held several positions within the organization, such as Chief Legal and Enforcement Officer, Chief Legal Counsel, and Deputy General Counsel, having joined MGA in September. Prior to his time at MGA, Brincat was associated with Emmanuel Mallia & Associates Advocates.
Reflecting on his tenure, Brincat remarked, “My tenure at MGA has been transformative, filled with invaluable experiences. Leading the Authority has been a profound honor. As I reminisce, I feel immense pride in our collective achievements and the stellar team at MGA. As I head towards my term’s conclusion, I’m optimistic about the MGA’s future trajectory and eagerly anticipate its further accomplishments.”
