POGO licenses will be reviewed by DOJ and PAGCOR

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor), the state gaming corporation and regulator, has made an announcement regarding the cancellation of the accreditation of CGC Technologies, a customer relations provider for a Philippine offshore gaming operation (POGO).

After conducting an investigation, Pagcor confirmed that CGC Technologies was involved in illegal activities, leading to the revocation of their authorization.

This cancellation follows Pagcor’s recent warning to offshore licensees and accredited service providers involved in criminal activities.

On May 4, Pagcor issued a suspension order to CGC Technologies and conducted a search of their premises, uncovering allegations of credit card fraud, serious illegal detention, and human trafficking.

The investigation also revealed that CGC Technologies operated six buildings, exceeding the two accredited by Pagcor.

As a result, Pagcor imposed a $350,000 fine on the operator that had utilized CGC Technologies’ services, Oriental Game Limited, for failing to ensure the legitimate conduct of CGC’s business.

Pagcor Chairman and CEO, Alejandro Tengco, emphasized the importance of abiding by Philippine laws and warned that continued operations after the cancellation of accreditation or licenses would be deemed illegal, with immediate action taken against violators.

Tengco reaffirmed Pagcor’s commitment to responsible gaming and cooperation with other government agencies to ensure that regulated gaming revenues contribute to worthy causes, particularly nation-building.
